Operation: Dark Ride in progress

Ok so I've made some progress on OPERATION: Dark Ride

I have a rough Concept for the story, and the three Main Characters Involved.

I've created a new Super-Scientist Character by the name of Dr. Luminous, a Heroic Foil to Professor Technicolor.

We're Visiting Dr. Luminous's Lab to help him test his "Trans-Dimensional Jumper" After you go through the rift, you meet D-wayne, who in this is Luminous's Assistant, and is native to the realm we're entering. We explore areas of the Nonsense Monster world and continue on our Trans-Dimensional Journey.

As we venture onward, the in-vehicle View screen, which is used by Luminous, is taken over by Professor Technicolor. Technicolor is attempting to sabotage the Journey and sends the riders into a "terrifying demisnsion" Fortunately D-wayne shows up and fixes the Jumpercraft telling everyone to hold on he's sending them home.

Technicolor then Strikes again, this time trying to leave the riders trapped between worlds, forever floating through the trans-dimensional void, as the ride vechiles spin wildly, Luminous Comes back up on the screen, although his signal is choppy, he tells the riders something about him locking on their position and to keep their wits about them.

In An explosive Flash the riders are "pulled free" of the Rift

The ride ends with a Fully-articulated Animatronic Professor Technicolor "I'll get you next time Doctor Luminous!"  as D-wayne Shoots a Lazer Ray at him Telling the riders "don't worry about me folks, he does this All the time"

as The Jumpercraft return to the Loading/unloading que in Luminous's lab, Dr. Luminous comes back on screen Apologizes for the Chaos, and promises a much safer Voyage if they choose to ever return.

So yeah, something like that. Cool eh?

here's a couple Pics:

^D-wayne as Luminous's assistant

^and of course, no adventure is complete without its bad guy.
I don't actually have a image of how Dr. Luminous will look yet, but I'm working on it.

but anyway that's a pretty good start eh?

whew, its been a while

Finally updating this, been meaning to, just been busy.

anywho Life's been kinda crazy Senior Ex is daunting, not because of what I'm working on for it, but because of what's Not being worked on for it. I'd explain better but there's no point its just frustrating.

I finished 3 more VooDoo guys since the last time I posted, so here they are:

^my camera gave me soo much trouble with this last one, I have no idea why

and just for kicks a group Pic of all 6 of the Voodoo dudes:

Also I've been going to town on my next project for Advanced Sculpture, and its a doozy.

The Assignment was to "Do the Impossible, and try to complete it anyway"
So what did I decide to do? Oh... just
MAKE MY OWN DISNEYLAND-ESQUE DARK RIDE
Based on my own characters, naturally.
Ya know, just a little project.

Yeah, so... I made myself a rough breakdown of the kind of things I have to figure out just to get started:
* A storyline/Scene breakdown
*Characters involved
*Ride system
*Entry/exit que theme
*Ride Map
^That's just what I have to do to even get moving forward on rough concept designs and a model, Naturally there's no way I'll actually be able to complete a workable ride within the time line of the assignment, but that's the point, and I'm going to try and get as far as I can go. I mean, to do this completely not only would I have to figure all that stuff out, but I'd also have to do a lot of complex engineering plans, develop animatronics, develop ride effects, have my composer record a soundtrack and hundreds of other things, does that stop me from wanting to actually make this a reality now? Hell no.

Because now I'm totally fascinated by the idea of a fictional theme park that exists in no single place but instead is made up of a series of In-Gallery Installation Art pieces(that are essentially theme park attractions). So like you'd go to a museum/gallery to see a Exhibition, and you'd get to go on a ride instead. I can't think of a better method for an artist to control how an audience experiences their work.

Consequently, pushing this project would greatly help in developing a really nice looking portfolio for when I try to land a gig at Disney Imagineering... right?

anywho I'll make another post tomorrow on my story concept and whatnot. Whee!

Caffeine Bugs - Contunued

This is what a box of 66 completed Caffeine Bugs looks like. 66...of what I intended to be nearly 200, but there's no way that's gonna happen by the due date of This Tuesday on this assignment considering all the other things on my plate this week. But I'm gonna make as many more as Possible still.

I got a pretty funny idea for how I'll be displaying them now too. I'm going to have them overtaking a can of the new Jolt Cola energy drink or whatever you call it, since these represent more the "classic" Jolt.

Caffeine Bugs

These Little Buggers are my first sculpture project for this quarter. Made from Jolt Cola Caps and Beading wire. I'm making nearly 200 out of the caps I've collected so far this year, do I know what I'll do with them after this? No. But that's beyond the point. Here's Pics of the Three Prototypes, after I got a system down, I started just punching holes till I have all my caps prepped for wire.

Wednesdays are Looooooooooong #3

This particular Wednesday was much less tedious than usual. As I now hold a Honor's Studio space here at school. I spent most of today moving in properly. the space itself is kinda meh, but its good enough for my purposes. I threw the rickety old table with a desk I built out of some leftover plywood and a couple 2x4s. Its not perfect, but its pretty good if I don't say so myself.

Wednesdays are Looooooooooong #2

This week on Wednesdays are Looooooooooong I've had a completely different layout to my events. first off, I actually had art history discussion today, so my long downtime didn't start until noon. From there I grabbed lunch with my homegirl Jen, and her former roomate Jane, they kinda had their own agenda at lunch so I mainly sat there eating while they watched strange subtitled videos on Jane's laptop and giggled. but it could have been worse. as it got close to 1, Jen had a class so I walked her to it before I wandered here to the studio art yard, where I currently sit.
On the walk over here I finished up watching Star Trek on my iPod, which I'd been listening to on my commute in this morning. My love for that movie seems to grow every time I watch it which I still find funny, considering that I wasn't a big Trek person.  I'm now finishing taking care of my application to the Honors studio so I can has a space to chillax and work on campus during this time instead of having to sit out here. I hope to use it as a place to film stuff with Pimp 5 and to work on sewing projects at school since the sculpture studio is not a good place to keep a sewing machine. Still have a full hour left to kill... oy.

Anywho I'm just amusing myself watching the photography class that's out here putzing around while I wait, I did throw together a piece of concept art for a Senior Ex T-shirt, and I have another, but its not ready because I need to scan or take a photo of my sketch to making into the finalized vector version.

I did some sewing too today, finishing up another voodoo guy. and I've decided to  itunes rent Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, which is one of my favorite movies, since I have no idea when Jen's gonna return the DVD for it. Seriously I love this movie, and I've missed having it to watch, so I'll say its worth the 3 bucks.
